    I cleaned the dust off my turntable last week and everything sounded definitely clearer and less muffled.

    I cleaned the fluff off my stylus and that improved matters!

    I think there would need to be enough accumulated crud to raise resistance to a level where it was significant - that's a lot of crud required.

    A good analogy would be spending a couple of hours cleaning the car inside and out, then going for a drive and enjoying it more because the car is spotless. But the actual performance metrics have not changed from when it was a shit-tip.

    Yeah but polishing the car makes it goes faster as there is less wind resistance !

    Why do that if you can buy a set of new cables to try for a few hundred instead?

    but how do you know they are clean when you take them out the wrapper?
