I had a Tascam Semi-Pro CD Recorder that had that problem. Ironic especially as you could disable SCMS on it... It wouldn't even attempt to play 'Flickering Flame' by Roger Waters, which had some early copy-protection inbuilt.

Colin, go find this program as it should get around the copy protection.
DVD43
It also works with CDs or I wouldn't mention it
You'll find a little yellow face in your taskbar, if you load a copy protected CD it'll go red & grow horns Shortly after that it should go green & start smiling...
Good luck...
PS, if this is naughty please feel free to delete this post, I won't be offended in the slightest, just upset that I was a bad boy

Providing it is for personal use, to backup or format shift as it's been put earlier, and not for piracy, then I don't see a problem.
Thank you Nick, I feel better already

I'm Dave.
Are you running iTunes on a PC or a Mac? Have you installed the latest iTunes? There were a couple of bad versions a few updates back which went crazy with some CDs. Most probably they were ones with pre-emphasis, though they could have had other coding - e.g. HDCD.
If you've got up to date software it's probably OK, and the suggestion that it might be something to do with DRM on the disc might be correct, but otherwise I'd try installing the latest iTunes and see if the problem goes away. When it was very obvious it affected both the PC and the Mac versions.
