I did think of using a linear supply, but trying to cram it into the PC case might be a bit tight.

    Cheers for fixing the typo.

Anybody running a t amp off a battery?
I have a spare car battery and was wondering if I could run the bantum off it.Would i need to run a fuse in line or just connect it directly?

I recommend taking the battery out of the car first.

Tony, make sure you put a fuse between the battery & amplifier I'd suggest a 5Amp fast blow type which will allow the amp to deal with transients into low impedance loads.

Car batteries are quite happy to serve up 1KA or over 10,000W of power for a short while, not good for equipment if it happens to go wrong explosion.gif

I ran my Trends TA 10.1 from an SLA that I charged with a motorbike charger...

I thought it sounded very slightly smoother on the battery, but the difference was minimal at best. I never had a problem with noise from this amp despite using sensitive speakers.

    Mark,
Thanks for that, pardon my ignorance but do I place the fuse in line with the positive or negative lead.
    Regards Tony.
