    Default Fet-ishizator that Caiman dac

I'm going to try this for the laugh http://www.lampizator.eu/LAMPIZATOR/...JFET_CDout.pdf
I reckon I could fit that on a board which will plug straight into the Caiman sockets
    Cheers,

I didn't understand much of that pdf but I think the gist is that this is a solid state version of a valve buffered output. Is that correct?

If so, is this an alternative to the passive output mod?

    Hi Dave,

Its just something I wanted to try, its supposed to sound like a valve buffer and can be used as an alternative to the passive or stock Caimans active audioboard.

Just got in but I should have it knocked up tonight
    Cheers,

Probably a really daft question, but why do most CD player/DAC manufacturers use chip op-amps? Are they really better than a proper line buffer, or is it just for cost and size???

I only ask but when I had my CD player on bits and saw TWO op-amps per channel (on both phono and balanced output boards) I wondered why...

PIA to squeeze that on this small piece of Matrix
I added sockets where possible to allow tuning if needed

Only had chance to try it quick, I had some clipping , The Wolfson dac has too high output so I need to play about with attenuation on the dacs output

I still need to add the cap multipliers on the supplies but will do that later , for now its ran from the output of the 7812 reg

    Cheers,

Being a constant fiddler the ribbon cable had occasional breaks so I replaced the lot with individual cable, easier to replace broken strands than ribbon.
The pair of coloured wires are solid copper cat5, the signal path didn't have enough cat5 to do all signal ones
